- David refuses and explains he is going to the milpa:

- Maʾ tin bin ich kool.
- Maʾ tin bin j maan.
- Juan asks whether David's brother is awake:
- Tsʾoʾok wáa u wenel a wíitsʾin.
- Tsʾoʾok wáa u yajsik a wíitsʾin.
- Tsʾoʾok wáa u yajal a wíitsʾin.
- David answers that he is, but not his sister:
- Letiʾeʾ tsʾoʾokij pero u kiikeʾ maʾ.

- Juan asks whether David has planted his milpa:

- You say you are just clearing it:

- He asks if the work of the milpa is hard:

- You answer that he is right:

- Jaaj a tʾaan.
- Chéen beyoʾ.
- You tell him you need to go:

- Bueno, yan in bin.

How would you say it?
- I'm having a little snooze.
- I'm drinking atole.
- What does your father do in the milpa?
- I'm having a little breakfast (drink).
- You must drink that atole.
- He works.
- I've had a little breakfast.
- I've [already] drunk it.
- What's your older brother doing in the milpa?
- You've woken up.
- We must work in the milpa, mustn't we? (isn't it so?)
- He's felling jungle.
- You've woken up Juan.
- We have [already] worked in the milpa, haven't we? (isn't it so?)
- He's not burning his milpa.
- But Alberto is still sleeping.
- Yes, we have.
- We won't burn until tomorrow.
- Where's your sister?
- I must go.
- Really? We have [already] planted our milpa.
- She's still playing.
- Your father must come.
- Already?
- Are you still working?
- He's coming here.
- You must take this thing to your older brother.
- No, I'm just playing.
- He's bringing his sister here.
- Little Juan is falling from his hammock.
- He isn't falling, he's just playing.
